Landesmusikakademie Berlin
Seduced by Music
Who hasn't felt the tingly sensation when a melody or rhythm creeps over your whole body? The Landesmusikakademie Berlin (Berlin State Academy of Music) invites people of all ages and backgrounds to experience this and produce it themselves.
The academy teachers and ensemble directors as well as enthusiastic amateurs teach participants to communicate through music and professionalise musically through courses lead by practitioners and seminars and workshops in various musical styles and formats. The musical orientation of the academy's work ranges from vocal choirs to hip hop and African rhythms and includes all musical genres from pop music to classical, contemporary to non-European music. The academy's varied programme includes the "Musikfestival Klangwelten" (World of Sounds Music Festival), the "Samba Syndrome", the "Berlin Music Campus" as well as week and day long projects for schools. In the MUSICATION project week, school children immerse themselves in exciting musical areas and experience sound studio work, drumming, beat-box and singing at first hand.
The Landesmusikakademie is housed in the FEZ Berlin, Europe's largest non-profit centre for children, young people and families which is in the middle of a large wooded park in Wuhlheide in Berlin. Its outdoor and indoor areas offer creative play, fun and entertainment and a programme of education, experience and culture.
