20/20Vision presents two short plays written and directed by Mark Emblem. These two works are, in their own way, diametrically opposed, short fragments, observations of contemporary life. One might think of them as paintings.
CONVERSATION PIECE (15 mins), is a performed reading, given whilst the narrator eats a meal.
The work is a particular observation of contemporary language in a digital context, two protagonists engage in discarded/distracted conversation whilst absorbed by their phones.
The complete text will be read and performed by the American actor Jimmy James. (James has worked with notable American playwrights Richard Maxwell, Christina Masciotti, Danny Hoch and Layna Fisher, amongst others.)
TENDERLOINS (30 mins), is a more traditional work, a segment in time in the lives of two people living on the fringe of our society, a parallel, but often unseen living space. The woman has a lot to say, Harry says nothing, he has too much to do.
The play is performed by actors Jacqueline Roussety, and Frey Le Maistre.
