Tumpeng is a cone-shaped rice dish that is part of a slametan ceremony. The ceremony symbolizes gratitude and is performed when one wishes for harmony in an environment or for a purpose. Building on this tradition, Soydivision will give a performance of rice preparation ritual, dance, and experimental music entitled "Tumpeng-Tindih", a wordplay of the word Tumpeng (cone-shaped rice dish) and tumpang-tindih (overlaying).
The cone shape symbolizes a volcano, which is both a source of disaster and fertility, from which diversity of life born and flourish. Through this performance, Soydivision not only asks for blessings from the surrounding neighborhood of the Uferstudios as a new part of the community but also gives a well-wishing prayer for harmonies within the neighborhood. Through the body of the dancer who is possessed by the spirit of the land, a shaman will try to decipher the spirit's message for the community; all this while the artisan prepares the rice offering for the land, the spirit, and all of the neighbors.
Check-in for all events will be at the entrance of Uferstraße 23. We ask for compliance with the applicable distance, mask and hygiene regulations.
