Stegreif – The Improvising Symphony Orchestra
Stegreif – The Improvising Symphony Orchestra
Known today primarily as a composer of great symphonies, Anton Bruckner was also famous during his lifetime for his art of improvisation on the organ. “freebruckner” combines the two typical Brucknerian elements of symphonic music and improvisation. To mark its 10th anniversary, Stegreif – The Improvising Symphony Orchestra presents the 7th Symphony with improvisational freedom and chamber instrumental lightness. The 26 musicians expand the classical orchestral sound with saxophone, drum set, electric guitar and their own vocals. In the here and now, freely moving in space, by heart and without a conductor, a performance is created that breaks down the boundaries between participants and visitors and between composition and improvisation
