RIAS KAMMERCHOR BERLIN & ENSEMBLE RESONANZ
Fantasy and Farewell: Works by Vaughan Williams, Parry, Elgar, and Marsh
Any farewell holds an element of uncertainty—often there is hope for a reunion, but bidding farewell also makes us confront the finality of all human interaction. British composer Joanna Marsh explores these themes in The Knot, a newly commissioned work that will have its world premiere at the Pierre Boulez Saal with the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin and Ensemble Resonanz conducted by Justin Doyle. The program also includes a selection of Hubert Parry’s moving Songs of Farewell, written during World War I as a tribute to fallen students and friends, and works by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Edward Elgar.
Presented by the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin in cooperation with the Pierre Boulez Saal
