In early 2024 a damaged ceremonial pipe from the Francis La Flesche collection in the Ethnologisches Museum underwent conservation treatment. The individual steps of the slightly risky treatment were discussed and decided upon together with the Umóⁿhoⁿ project partners.
This collaborative conservation project was developed following the long-term collaboration between the Stiftung Humboldt Forum, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin/Ethnologisches Museum and the Nebraska Indian Community College.
This exhibition talk will give insight both into the motivations of the Umóⁿhoⁿ partners as well as the perspective of the involved museum conservators.
