Yavuz Ekinci was charged with »terrorist propaganda« in Turkey for this novel. He brought an excerpt from it to his trial and said, »My novel is my defence«. It’s about a story from the Kurdish resistance and dias?pora which has an even more pressing poetic and political urgency to?day. Ekinci has been one of the most important voices in Turkey for some time and is gaining more and more of a readership in Germany as well. When the characters from a novel are put on trial, does the court itself become fiction? This question, and many more, will be part of Deniz Utlu’s discussion with Yavuz Ekinci.
