Popsalon meets Müllersalon
Guest: Mascha Qrella. With Jens Balzer, Anja Quickert, Tobi Müller
"I understand this megalomania of pop singers very well."
What brings the two series Müllersalon and Popsalon together in this christian month? There is no question of reunification, because they were never a couple. And neither Heiner Müller's work nor pop music can really make a state, although both have already been tried. However, there were and are music projects that choose Heiner Müller as a point of reference. Historically, clearly. But even today: the Berlin musician Masha Qrella, for example, used a poem by Heiner Müller in a pop song this year. And she is currently working on texts by Thomas Brasch. Heiner Müller, however, is also following the path for another theme that seems culturally underestimated in Germany as well as in pop: the role of the body - in the inheritance of violence and in the representation of gender. We often talk about ideology, but rarely about bodies. After a conversation about Müller and Brasch and East-West pop, we want to examine the current state of the pop body. We will watch music videos so that you, dear audience, know what we are talking about before we forget it ourselves. Alongside with Qrella sitting on the couch: Anja Quickert from Müllersalon , Jens Balzer and Tobi Müller from Popsalon .
