Only one of them can win!
Two pianists who could hardly be more different: Paul Cibis already had private piano lessons as a child. He wore spotless white gloves and regularly won the German music competition for youth “Jugend Musiziert”. And at the second of the two adjacent pianos: Andreas Kern, who taught himself piano in a bar. He also already played Chopin at 12, because the bar owner wanted him to. But at the same time, he also always had the latest Rock and Pop songs in his repertoire.
The two have become so famous with their “Piano Battle” format that German television has snapped it up. The challenge continues, but in addition to the two brilliant pianists, there is now a third person putting in his own two cents. And so it will be interesting to see how the two not only cope with one another, but also deal with having a director on stage. This funny and temperamental duel – sometimes a three-way battle – will be serving up plenty Rachmaninoff and Chopin, as always, along with a good dose of Michael Bublé and Adele.
