NEWROZ – IT’S A BIJI PARTY
Konzert & Party
BIJI is coming to Studio Я for their first headline show in Berlin celebrating NEWROZ and announcing the beginning of spring.
The Kurdish-Swedish duo BIJI, consisting of Robin Nazari and Maceo Frost, combines modern sounds with cultural heritage and is creating a sensation with energetic beats. Their music fuses hip-hop, afrobeat and dance with Kurdish elements and tells the oft-overlooked story of Kurdistan. Their debut EP BIJI, Pt. 1 (2024) with tracks like Zigidi and Wey Wey brings their unique sound from Northern Iraq to Germany.
Nazari, known from Netflix series such as Snabba Cash, and Frost, an award-winning film director and music producer, use their art to break down stereotypes and create a new narrative. Their music videos, often shot in Kurdish cities, show the diversity of the region and its people. The video for ORIGINAL KURDA, filmed during Newroz in Akre, marks the end of a first chapter and the beginning of a new era. Their works are deeply rooted in the community, full of symbolism and visual power.
BIJI stands for resistance, identity and cultural bridges. Their music is a tribute to Kurdistan, the diaspora and all those who want to reconnect with their roots. It is for those who stay, those who had to leave, and those who find their language and homeland in music. BIJI is more than sound – it is an expression of freedom, rebellion and solidarity.
NEWROZ – It's a BIJI Party is an invitation to those kissed by the sun, to come join and celebrate the long awaiting blossoming of spring together on the 21st of March.
