An Orpheus Festival
The myth of the singer Orpheus is one of the first materials to be made into opera and continues to challenge music-theatre professionals to create new arrangements and perspectives. With the Orpheus Festival, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden invites students from Berlin’s art academies to develop performances and installation formats based on themes and subject matter from the myth of Orpheus.
The works will be shown in the Alter Orchesterprobensaal with a changing supporting programme. The Orpheus Festival rounds off the programme of the BAROCKTAGE 2020 from a contemporary perspective, which focuses on the productions of »Orfeo« by Claudio Monteverdi, Christoph Willibald Gluck and Carl Heinrich Graun on the main stage.
In cooperation with the Universität der Künste Berlin (course of studies »Stage Design« and »Institute of Art«), the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch and the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin (course of studies »Choreography«)
