Löffler, Keßen and Madsen The Wedding (in Kreuzberg). Communally Queered Nuptials
Queer communal nuptials - everyone’s a guest, everyone’s getting married
A durational, immersive performance event.
This production questions normative wedding practices and invites participation that may be triggering for some individuals
Everyone’s a guest. Everyone’s getting married. What happens to us when we break the traditional rites of a wedding and its designated roles?
You are invited to be the bride, the jilted ex-lover, the celebrant and the teenage waiter all at once, as we experiment with what different visions of weddings and marriage could be.
What does it mean to un-tie marriage from its function as a basic unit of property relations? How can we fall in love with each other un-hierarchically? How can we wear our memories and create a wedding dress which fits a whole community?
Performance artists Mars Löffler, Michelle Madsen and Sophia Keßen invite audience members to join them to subvert, interrogate and playfully dismantle rituals to queer ‘wedding’ throughout this 10-hour performance party.
‘Bring something coveted, something broken, something shared, something secret’
