KU`DAMM 59 - Das Musical
KU`DAMM 59 - Das Musical
KU`DAMM 59 - The Musical - Berlin's HIT musical continues!
One of the most gripping family and women's stories is finally getting its long-awaited sequel. After the musical “Ku'damm 56” has already thrilled over 500,000 viewers and won four awards, the Schöllack family is back with the next exciting chapter.
This stage musical is not only the sequel to “Ku'damm 56”, but also a stand-alone work about the Schöllack sisters Monika, Eva, Helga and their mother Caterina.
“Ku'damm 59 - The Musical” tells the story of four fearless women who fight for emancipation and self-discovery in Berlin at the end of the 1950s. They break out of the social corset and defy all rules of decency.
With outstanding musicians, artists and creatives, with passion and enthusiasm for the project, the production celebrated its premiere in Berlin's most beautiful theater, the Stage Theater des Westens, on May 5, 2024.
The story ...
The year is 1959 and the stale atmosphere of the early 1950s is only slowly being replaced by free love, supposedly false love and the longing for love in return.
The focus is on rebellion, liberation and the eternal question: is it about the I or the we?
The over-ambitious mother Caterina tries with all her might to turn her daughter Monika and the hallodri Freddy into home movie stars, but this is diametrically opposed to Monika's dream of becoming a singer in a rock'n'roll band.
Eva, on the other hand, is trapped in an unhappy and unfulfilling marriage, while Helga does everything she can to attract the attention of her homosexual husband Wolfgang.
Watching over everything is Caterina, who is ensnared by the eternally stubborn director Christa Moser. She is desperately trying to shoot a Heimatfilm at the Schöllack dance school.
