In the sixth Academy concert Baiba Skride traces her Baltic roots. Pēteris Vasks’s Violin Concerto “Distant Light” is a moving hymn to idealism and love, melancholy and dramatic at the same time. Sad Serenades by Maija Einfelde is also on the programme – music in which expressionist tension and impressionist beauty meet – along with the energetic string poem Passion-Illusion by Erkki-Sven-Tüür.
In co-operation with the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Kindly suppported by the Baltic Culture Fund.
