Habitat
Habitat
As part of the retrospective – 25 Years of laborgras – Berlin
Sitting still and gazing straight ahead? Not tonight!
Habitat is an immersive performance installation that invites the audience to experience various real and virtual spatial levels —and their inhabitation—from a perspective of their own choosing. Towering oak sculptures by artist Volker Schnüttgen, combined with a soundscape by Giorgio de Santis, form the overall space of the performance installation by laborgras. Some of the wooden sculptures contain a intimate interior spaces, each equipped with a monitor and speaker—waiting to be discovered by the viewer. Using new technologies, a real-time connection is created between the sculptures and dancer Renate Graziadei, who moves within a clearly defined performance area inside the overall installation space, responding to the live music of Giorgio de Santis, and occupying the virtual spaces of the sculptures either individually or as a multiple clone. The habitat staged in this way returns 15 years after its premiere as an experiential space in which dance, sculpture, music and space merge into a multi-sensory perceptual experience.
Duration
Performance ca. 60 Minuten, Installation ist danach noch 2 Stunden geöffnet.
