Terrible Beauty film series – Bal Ganesh
by Pankaj Sharma
Eye-to-eye introduction by Meenakshi Shedde, film curator and journalist, India
How did the revered Indian god Ganesh come to have an elephant’s head? The film tells about Ganesh’s childhood in the Hindu pantheon. He owes his intelligence to his elephant head, which makes him, even though a child, superior to some stubborn adults. His adventures are retold, many of which he encounters in company of his vahana, a mouse on which he rides and which takes him everywhere. Plus, of course, his weakness for sweet things.
