What connects physical labour in the field with contemporary dance? Hannah Schillinger gets to the bottom of this question in her work.
In her work, choreographer Hannah Schillinger and performer Aaron Lang explore the theme of European agricultural labour through the lens of contemporary dance.
Taking a kaleidoscopic view, „Field Work“ explores the connections between agricultural work and performative practice, with physical labour, rhythm, ritual, cooperation, and social imprints at the centre. Against the backdrop of a poetic-surreal landscape comprising sculptural stage elements and digital simulation, a space emerges where nature, humans and technology converge to establish a new equilibrium. Adopting a queer-feminist perspective on Alpine culture and folklore, this performance challenges traditional narratives and invites us to reconsider cultural heritage.
