With Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, Kirill Petrenko will present one of the most passionate love stories in world literature at his first family concert in the Philharmonie. How does a composer do that: recount a five-act play in a twenty-minute orchestral work without text? How does he render the persons and their actions, their wishes and conflicts? What should you know to appreciate and enjoy this piece with all its many facets? Kirill Petrenko wants to explore these and other questions, share from his own experience with music – and of course also perform the piece with the orchestra.
