For free, open air and under palm trees: This summer again, the DURCHLÜFTEN festival transforms the Humboldt Forum’s large courtyard into a vibrant meeting point of sound, rhythm, and culture.

Over four weekends, the stage will pulse with music from across the globe: from the raw energy of Mexican Cumbia-punk to the hypnotic groove of Kenyan Dodo Blues, from the electrifying syncopations of Congolese Soukous to the powerful messages of Afro-futuristic big bands. Caribbean-infused Japanese folk, soulful jazz, hip hop, and the joy and resilience of Frafra-gospel round off  this celebration of sound— borderless, multi-perspective, and irresistably danceable!

Ekowmania & The Rhythmers (Berlin, Ghana)

Ekowmania & the Rhythmers is an afro-highlife band based in Berlin led by Ekow Alabi Savage. He is a vocalist, composer, and master percussionist, renowned for his deep command of African rhythms on the drum set. Originally from Ghana, Ekow has shaped the global music scene with his fusion of highlife, reggae, jazz, and funk. As a drummer and collaborator, he has worked with legends like Ziggy Marley, Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti, and Ebo Taylor. Based in Berlin, he leads Ekowmania & the Rhythmers, continuing the tradition of blending West African rhythms with contemporary sounds. Their latest recordings are set for release in summer 2025.
