Eine Version der Geschichte
Staged Reading & Talk
By Simone Kucher
In her play Eine Version der Geschichte (A Version of the (Hi)story), Simone Kucher tells the story of a musician named Lusine, who, in her research on the Armenian Genocide, comes across an audio file and recognizes her grandfather’s voice on the recording. She immediately immerses herself in the history of violence in the 20th century, losing herself in questions about truth and lies, forgetting and remembering, silence and speech. In this work, Kucher uses original sound recordings made with an old phonograph in prison camps. She works with real images, while also bringing folk tales from the oral tradition back to life. The staged reading is directed by Nelly Barseghyan and features Saro Emirze, Nairi Hadodo and Alina Manoukian.
