Ein Doppelabend mit Soa Ratsifandrihana und Sorvina
A double evening with works by Soa Ratsifandrihana and Sorvina, two artists in search of their own groove.
Soa Ratsifandrihana's “g r oo v e” is an impressive solo in which the former dancer from Rosas – the ensemble of choreographer and dancer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker – fuses raw movement, music and poetry. She searches for a balance between spontaneity and rigour, forming a collage of dance references, including the Afindrafindrao of her native Madagascar, and condensing them into pulsating energy. The pure joy of dance unfolds in a sound fabric of hip-hop beats by Alban Murenzi and the glitch-like soundscapes of Sylvain Darrifourcq. HAU last presented Soa Ratsifandrihana's work “Fampitaha, fampita, fampitàna” at Tanz im August 2024.
Behind the smooth voice of Sorvina Carr is an artist whose songs weave together into an ongoing narrative about identity, movement and the constant change of self-expression. Emerging from the New York world of folk singer-songwriters with acoustic melodies and tragicomic lyricism, Sorvina is now firmly rooted in the vibrant landscape of hip-hop and has embraced her natural love for rhythm and rhyme, blending her storytelling roots with the infectious beats and lyrical complexity of her new genre.
