Staatsballett Berlin announces that the premiere of Marcia Haydee's Sleeping Beauty, originally scheduled for 15 February 2020, is postponed until October of the same year. Instead, the successful productions Swan Lake in the choreography by Patrice Bart and Half Life by Sharon Eyal, amongst others, will return.
The existing performance dates will be substituted with three different programs. The first is a ballet evening with three newly curated choreographies: William Forsythe's The Second Detail will be accompanied by Sharon Eyal's Half Life, which has already caused storms of enthusiasm at Komische Oper Berlin in the 2018/2019 season. The third piece is Alexander Ekman's creation LIB, which will premiere on 8 December, 2019 as part of Ekman | Eyal at Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
Afterwards, the successful classic Swan Lake will take the audience into a tragic, ethereal world of magic with the music of Peter I. Tchaikovsky in the choreography of Patrice Bart after Lev Ivanov and Marius Petipa, for seven performances in March and April. Finally, in June, two additional performances of George Balanchine's Jewels are scheduled.
