Don‘t Mess With The Wrong One: 4 Kurzfilme von Otis Jack Rodriguez
Otis Jack Rodriguez is a 17-year-old filmmaker from Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. His love for cinema began early — at the age of four or five. Back then, he and his mother lived directly across from the city’s oldest movie theater. The glowing neon sign reading “Kino” shone into their living room. Otis Jack Rodriguez would go to the cinema sometimes twice a week, watching nearly every film on the schedule — as long as they weren’t violent. Once he’d seen them all, he would start over and watch them again. He never got bored.
At first, Otis Jack Rodriguez wanted to be an actor, but eventually the idea of telling only other people’s stories began to trouble him. He wanted to portray characters of his own creation — and so he became a director. But he had no idea what problems and characters he would face in the film business. The price of being a director is high — too high to ignore. In cinema, it’s not just on screen that life and death are at stake.
