What came first: tree or seed, summer or winter, supply or demand, “big bang” or “big bounce”, the hen or the egg? We don't know either. But to get to the bottom of these cycles, the cycle and cyclical living beings in linear systems, the vocal ensemble THE PRESENT not only takes you on a journey to the egg house in Spreepark, but also through romantic song cycles, pop sounds and the eternal return of various TV show formats from the last few decades.

In each show you will experience encounters of a somewhat “different kind” with absurd guests: look forward to the enthusiastic Jens, who gets involved in everything; to Lydia's fight for menstrual justice and Katja. She has made it out of the whole egg dance. In a cappella arrangements, the Petshop Boys meet the romantic sounds of Mr. and Mrs. Schumann, Taylor Swift meets the songs of Fanny Hensel and Daft Punk meets the still-new music of Wolfgang Rihm. And anyone wondering what Lisa Stansfield, Camille and even Helge Schneider are doing here will find the answer in January.

In its usual witty manner, THE PRESENT puts the cycles (of nature) in the spotlight and musically and playfully considers how we humans deal with them today.
