Concord Floral (Das Gewächshaus)
Junges DT Production
by Jordan Tannahill
“Where do your children go at night? Do you think they stay in bed? All night long?”
On the outskirts of town is an abandoned greenhouse – Concord Floral. This is where the neighbourhood teens come to hang out, far away from the prying eyes of their parents. The greenhouse is home to all their secrets: late-night parties, an old sofa where innocence of one kind or another is lost, dark corners illuminated only by the glow of joints. Concord Floral has its own laws. But when two girls discover a dead body, everything changes. The darkness of Concord Floral begins to spread throughout the town and the teens realise they have to confront their guilt: “You can feel the shadows drawing nearer. And your friends. They can feel it, too. It’s getting darker. It’s hanging over the neighbourhood. Like a plague. The burden of their guilt. They all know the truth. Everyone who was there.”
The Canadian playwright Jordan Tannahill collaborated with teenagers to write and develop this exciting mystery thriller about exclusion and displacement, inspired by Boccaccio’s The Decameron.
German by Frank Weigand.
