A Spanish-Czech Evening with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe
A Spanish-Czech Evening with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe
With his 1875 Symphonie espagnole, Édouard Lalo enjoyed his greatest success. Virtuosic, dance-like, and infused with Spanish folk elements, this hybrid of symphony and violin concerto struck a chord with audiences. The Chamber Orchestra of Europe, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano, performs it with violinist María Dueñas. In his sharply-contrasting Slavonic Dances, which helped launch his international career, Antonín Dvořák captures the joy of Bohemian folk music.
