ALL THE BEASTS OF THE EARTH
A contemporary Jewish ghost story
A staged reading: excerpts from a new Jewish play, currently in development, by Christopher Adams-Cohen.
The play explores the complexities of Jewish identity in the diaspora following the Holocaust, focusing on Jewish-American siblings who return to Germany to trace their lineage and confront their Holocaust history. Their journey leads to an unexpected encounter with two German sisters who discover their own hidden Jewish lineage, creating a dialogue around the loss of Jewish life and community in Germany.
The reading will be presented in English (with German surtitles), with some parts in German, reflecting the fractured nature of German-Jewish existence post-war.
„All The Beasts of the Earth“ is part of the city-wide theme week “80 Years After the War - the Liberation of Europe from National Socialism”, initiated and funded by the state of Berlin and realized by Kulturprojekte Berlin with numerous partners.
The reading will be followed by a post-show discussion with the artistic team and Rabbi Daniel Lichman to explore the play and its themes in greater depth.
