12TH KLASSIKOPENAIR AT GRUNEWALD HUNTING LODGE (JAGDSCHLOSS GRUNEWALD)
SCHWANENSEE
Tchaikovsky's immortal ballet music with orchestra at Whitsun in Grunewald Forest
A setting that could not be more fitting: a castle, a lake, nature and swans.
The legend, known in many cultures, tells of the swan princess who can only be redeemed from the spell of evil through love: the eternal battle between good and evil and the question of illusion and reality.
The magnificent music in its elegance and richness of contrast is always somewhat neglected in the theatre and not sufficiently appreciated because of the choreography.
In the concert performance, we can fully immerse ourselves in Tchaikovsky's masterpiece and allow our own images and stories to emerge. We immerse ourselves in the world of dreams and legends of the Swan Kingdom.
Over the three evenings, Tchaikovsky's symphonic music will transform the setting of the hunting lodge into the magical realm of the swan myth.
‘His music has to do with nature, spirituality and the exploration of different musical styles - we experience an honest, open and sincere Russia with Tchaikovsky’
Christian Järvi
The Orpheus Ensemble Berlin with around 50 musicians from Berlin's cultural landscape will bring this work to life under the direction of Stefan Meinecke.
This year, the Klassik OpenAir concerts will take place for the twelfth time in the open air in front of a magnificent, illuminated palace backdrop in close contact with nature.
