The Performing Arts Festival Berlin invites you to the first online edition from 19 to 24 May 2020 and brings the performing arts into your living room. In an episodic documentary film, artists* and protagonists* of Berlin's independent performing arts scene with their independent perspectives on the current situation will become visible. In the "Digital Showroom" the artists*, groups with the artistic works programmed for the Performing Arts Festival, as well as the venues with their aesthetic profiles are presented. Further formats and offers invite you to discover, experience and meet - around the clock and @home.
In cooperation with all festival and programme partners* a documentary film in English and German will be produced, which will be published in several episodes within the festival period. Each episode is dedicated to a different question with the aim of making their personal perspective visible, audible and tangible in the context of current events.
In the "Digital Showroom" the artists* and groups present their artistic works for the originally planned programme to the audience in words and (moving) pictures, open up access and creative approaches to their artistic practice and projects - or invite the audience to live streams of their works. Of course, the city's many venues are also not to be missed. In the "Digital Showroom" they show the different aesthetic profiles they stand for - regardless of the current situation.
In 2020, the festival will also pay special attention to young artists. The newcomer platform "Introducing..." will present the selected artists in a special online format: Each of this year's "Introducing..." artists will present "Instructions for those at home", inviting them to view their performances as practical knowledge that can be actively used by the audience.
There will be discourse and networking opportunities in the form of panels and webinars for trade visitors and interested spectators. In addition, the showcase and network format "PAF Show & Tell" will take place digitally, in which artists will present their current works and engage in conversation with the audience. Behind the scenes, other events such as the internal consulting format "1:1 - conversations on artistic practice" invite the professional audience to exchange and dialogue.
All events are free of charge.
