Berliner Spielplan Audiodeskription
With the Berlin Playbill Audio Description, for the first time, equal participation in the capital's stage culture for blind and visually impaired people is possible across genres and on a significant scale. A special visitor service with tactile tours, dramaturgical discussions and dog-sitting for guide dog owners will accompany the individual performances. Making a stage performance a real theatre experience for blind and visually impaired people is the goal of the Berliner Spielplan Audiodeskription project. Together with five Berlin venues, sixteen productions with over 40 performances are to be commented live for blind and visually impaired audience members by the end of the 2021/22 season. The Berliner Ensemble, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Friedrichstadt-Palast and the Theater an der Parkaue are permanent partner theatres of the pilot.
For acoustic information, you can also call the Berliner Spielplan Audiodeskription playbill announcement on 030 27 90 87 76.
Sophiensæle | Haptic Access Tour + Audiodescription
The Sophiensæle offer audio description and a preceding Haptic Access Tour for selected performances to make them accessible for blind and visually impaired people.
For more information and to register, call 030 - 27 89 00 35.
Audio description enables blind and visually impaired people to access the visual elements of a performance: movement, gestures, facial expressions, stage design, costumes and props are described. A live description of what is happening on stage can be heard through wireless headphones.
Part of the audio description is the Haptic Access Tour, a tactile tour 75 minutes before the start of each performance. The stage space is explored, props and costumes can be felt. The performers make movement qualities tangible and describe themselves.
In cooperation with Berlin für Blinde/Förderband e.V. we offer a pick-up service for blind and visually impaired people from the nearby S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations Hackescher Markt and Weinmeisterstraße. To make use of the pick-up service, please contact us at least 48 hours before the performance.
