Freiluftkino: audiovisual, music & performative arts
During 4 nights in a Freilufkino format will be presented works addressing diverse cosmologies in audiovisual, music and performative formats. Come and join us for free, grab a drink and chill out during this summer in the garden of Theater Ballhaus Prinzenallee in collaboration with Corrientes Creativas.
It’s believed that in the very beginning there were no continents but a big mass of land with the shape of an "U" or a "C" called Pangea. In the supercontinent, animals could migrate freely from one side to the other.
How do we define ourselves in relation to territory without identifying with postmodern colonial narratives? Are postcolonial narratives epistemological discussions deep enough to overtake just historical reinterpretations? How do we, from other cosmologies, think and define the relationship between territory, nature, human and culture? Land is life, it’s a source of identity, material and spiritual sustenance. The complexity of certain matters dissipates when we talk about us, about ourselves, about our own existence as a reference, not only in our work, but also in the way we acknowledge ourselves.
not from north vision but from south self-claim
not from academical knowledge but from local experiences
not from macro solutions but micro exercises
not from ecological activism but from multicultural approaches
not from political frontiers but from personal identities
The main focus of this audiovisual and interdisciplinary festival is to bring together diverse voices, including artists, researchers and activists (and the many that fall between disciplines) to create a space of south-south dialogue where local experiences, documentary works and artistic processes are shared, from a non-colonial and empowering perceptions and reflections of the global south.
PAN-GEA is a co-curated festival by MARía Rodríguez Cruz & Nanda Gamarra, and co-produced by Theater Ballhaus Prinzenallee (Berlin) in collaboration with Corrientes Creativas (Mexico City).
